MANILA - Are you wondering why "#Shorty" became a top trending topic on Twitter in the Philippines Tuesday?

During the live episode of "It's Showtime," one of the dancers participating in the "Gandang Lalake" segment amused the audience with his act.

Named "Shorty" by co-host Vhong Navarro, the male dancer was prompted to perform when the contestant picked him among the three "mute" dancers, who each represented a word for the question-and-answer portion.

In Gandang Lalake, the dancers come up with unique acts or personalities when they are chosen by a contestant. Shorty was no exception, as he danced before latching on to the left leg of co-host Billy Crawford, and later Navarro.

Shortly after his act, "#Shorty" zoomed up as the No. 1 trend on Twitter locally, with viewers of "It's Showtime" expressing their amusement with the dancer.

Shorty was not the first so-called "TrabaHandle" to trend on Twitter worldwide, following an amusing performance. Previously, dancers dubbed by Vice Ganda as "Salakota," "Pusoda" and "Bangsina" topped trending topics on the micro-blogging site.
