MANILA - Broadway star Lea Salonga on Tuesday moved her followers with a tribute to her one-time co-actor Robin Williams, who was found dead from an apparent suicide at his home in Northern California.

Only hours after news broke of Williams' death on Tuesday morning (Manila time), Salonga took to Twitter to express her sadness and to urge her former colleagues starring in the ongoing "Aladdin" stage musical to sing "extra hard tonight."

The Broadway show is based on the 1992 Disney animated film, which featured Salonga doing the singing voice of Princess Jasmine. The character Genie, who could grant three wishes of the titular character, was voiced by Williams.

Salonga also changed her profile picture to one of Jasmine kissing Genie in a scene from the 1996 sequel "Aladdin and the King of Thieves."

"Strangely, we've never met though our voices are featured in the same film, one that went on to become a massive hit for Disney," Salonga clarified to a follower.

"That said, his energy was inspiring, and one that made me laugh out loud whenever I saw any excerpt of Aladdin at events and press gatherings. I felt incredibly fortunate to share one movie credit with him, and felt touched. Although we've never met," she added.

Some of Salonga's 2.47 million followers commented on her choice of profile picture, with a number echoing her disbelief over the passing of Williams.

Similar to Salonga's tribute to the 63-year-old comedian, the Academy of Motion Picture & Sciences and "Aladdin," on their respective Twitter accounts, remembered Williams by his portrayal of the iconic blue genie.
