MANILA - "Diary ng Panget" star Nadine Lustre on Friday reacted to comments saying that she looks a lot like teen star Kathryn Bernardo.

In an interview during the press conference of her upcoming film, "Talk Back and You're Dead", Lustre said she does not mind being compared to Bernardo.

"It's okay, it's not bad. It's actually really good kasi people noticed me. Kahit bashers 'yan, kahit ayaw nila sa akin, at least they still know me, hindi ba?" she said.

"Yeah. I mean, I can't do anything about it naman... Pero there's like, a lot of people telling me that I don't [look like here]. Siguro in some angles lang pero I don't [look like her]," she added.

Lustre went on to admit that she gets a lot of negative messages and even threats from people who claim to be fans of Bernardo.

"'Yung pinaka-hurtful was when someone threatened me and my family, there was something like that. There was something in the message... I just don't respond," she said.

"Why would I be scared? I know naman na I don't really copy her. It's just that we have the same features lang siguro," she added.

Proving that she has nothing against Bernardo, Lustre expressed her admiration for the teen star's love team with Daniel Padilla which is more popularly known as KathNiel.

"Nakakakilig naman sila talaga. Even my friends, kinikilig sa kanila. I'm like, 20 years old, ang mga friends ko they are 21, 22, kinikilig sa kanila. I was supposed to watch 'She's Dating the Gangster' but then again, we don't have time," she said.

Lustre also said that there is a conscious effort on her part to be different from Bernardo.

When asked if she is open to working with KathNiel, she said: "Yeah, of course... If Viva would [allow it]."

JaDine vs KathNiel

Given that she is often compared to Bernardo, Lustre and her love team with James Reid -- or JaDine -- also tends to be likened to KathNiel.

Lustre, however, humbly said that they have yet to reach the level of KathNiel's success.

"Ang level ng KathNiel ay mataas na. For us to be compared to KathNiel is very flattering... kasi we are only beginning," she said.

Reid, for his part, believes that the comparison means that he and Lustre are on the right track.

"It's very flattering. KathNiel, they are really number one. Being compared to them, it means we are doing something right," he said.

"Talk Back And You're Dead", which is produced by Skylight and Viva Films, will hit theaters this August 20.
