MANILA, Philippines – Queen of All Media Kris Aquino accompanied her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, in visiting evacuation centers in various cities in Metro Manila on Wednesday.

Kris said she personally told the President that she wants to take part in distributing relief goods to those affected by floods.

She said she also bought groceries from their family because the goods from the Department of Social Welfare and Development are not enough.

“Nag-volunteer ako talaga kay Presidente na samahan siya and kanina bago nagpunta dito, nakapag-supermarket din ako para kami din mismo hindi lahat iaasa sa DSWD dahil kukulangin talaga. So mayroon din kaming dala na personal galing sa pamilya namin,” she said.

Kris said she thinks it is important that Filipinos see the President roaming around flood-stricken areas because he gets to learn first hand the problems faced by flood victims.

“I think talaga importante na nakikita ng mga mamamayan na umiikot si PNoy mismo dahil natatanong niya sa kanila kung ano ba talaga ang problema at ano ang puwedeng itulong. Ang sinabi nga niya nung tinuturo nila na yung baha nga, bigyan daw muna ng isang linggo para maayos ang problemang iyon,” she said.

Aside from joining her brother today, Kris said she will also join some Kapamilya artists who will conduct relief operations on Thursday.

“Alam niyo, I’m very proud of ABS-CBN kasi on my way here, ka-text ko ang ating channel head and they were on their way to San Mateo and tomorrow kasama ng ibang mga artista, may mga lilibutin. I think nakagawian na natin talagang mga Kapamilya, nandoon talaga tayo para tumulong,” she said.

Kris said she is glad that a lot of people are helping flood victims.

Meanwhile, Kris called on Filipinos to be more disciplined about waste management to prevent more floods in the future.

She said Filipinos should always help one another as the government can’t solve everything on its own.

“Sana of course, ang dapat nating ipagdasal, kasi 3 years ago lang yung ganito kalala. Sana naman talaga nagsisimula din yan sa disiplina ng mga tao about waste management and yung tamang pagdinig sa mga warnings na binibigay sa atin,” she said.
