MANILA – "I am the baby."
This is what Robin Padilla said in jest when he and his wife, Mariel Rodriguez, were bombarded with questions on when they plan to have their own child.
In an interview with the entertainment site Pep, Padilla for the first time revealed what he thinks is the ideal age for Rodriguez to have their own baby.
"Thirty two," he said. "Baka naman mahirapan na siya pag lumampas ng 32. Hindi na safe para sa kanya at sa bata."
Rodriguez will be turning 30 years old on August 10.
"Kasi pag hindi pa 32, ako na ang hindi puwede noon," Padilla added.
Now four years into their marriage, Padilla and Rodriguez have consistently said that now is not yet the right time for them to have a baby since they are still trying to enjoy each other’s company.
Rodriguez also said she is taking her role as a housewife to her heart, adding that she loves serving Padilla.
"Medyo time-consuming [maging housewife] so kailangan naka-focus ka talaga don. Kasi, it's always been my dream... Ever since I was a kid, I really wanted to be a housewife,” she said.
"Kaya siguro nung nabigyan ako ng chance na wala akong work, natuto akong magluto e, dati hindi naman ako marunong," she added.
When she becomes a mom in the future, Rodriguez said she will also strive to be hands on to her child.
"Siyempre ngayon, hindi pa naman ngayon, pero gusto kong ihatid iyong... kung kunwari man, ako, gusto ko silang ihatid sa school, alam mo yung gano'n. Yun ang gusto ko,” she said.
