MANILA, Philippines -- Even before the public knew about the blossoming romance between actor Gerald Anderson and Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo, the singer’s parents already warned her about “following her heart.”
In an interview with "Showbiz Inside Report" last February 18, Geronimo's mom, fondly called by everyone as Mommy Divine, said she pitied her daughter after her first heart break.
After that incident, Mommy Divine said she did not want to see her daughter hurting again. Hence, she vowed to guide Geronimo with respect to her future relationships.
“Nakakaawa siya. Hindi siya puwedeng basta basta iwan. Siyempre intindihin din naman natin na wala siya masyadong exposure. Very sincere siya so nakakaawa siya kung mapaglalaruan,” she said.
Mommy Divine said she and Geronimo’s father never fail to remind her to not just follow her heart but to also use her mind.
“Huwag lang niyang kakalimutan ang mga pangaral namin. Ang sinasabi ko do not follow your heart kasi minsan kapag ito lang ang finollow mo, most of the time magkakamali ka, iiyak ka,” she said.
After courting Geronimo for six months, it was revealed on “Sarah G Live”’s episode last week that Anderson had stopped wooing the singer.
Rumors said Geronimo’s parents personally talked to Anderson and told him that if he wanted to court their daughter, it should only be done in their house.
Many speculated this was the reason Anderson stopped courting the singer.
Geronimo, however, defended her parents saying her mom was not the reason Anderson stopped courting her.
Geronimo added she does not want to rush things and she is willing to patiently wait for the one whom God will give her.
“Kung sino man siya, kailangan ng panahon para malaman kung totoo ba ang tinitibok ng puso ko at puso niya. Hindi yung gusto ko kundi 'yung gusto ng Diyos para sa akin,” she said.
Mommy Divine, on the other hand, reiterated that she only wants what’s best for her daughter.
“Yung asasandalan niya for life, intellectually and spritually. 'Yung sana habambuhay, hindi siya iiwan,” she said.
