MANILA - It was a night dedicated to the young -- whether those showing off their talent on stage or those affected by calamities that have hit the country.

Dubbed "Boses ng Bulilit... Kami Ulit," the benefit concert kicked off with a performance by the finalists of the "The Voice Kids" -- Darren Espanto, Lyca Gairanod, Juan Karlos Labajo, and Darlene Vibares.

The four showed the crowd at Resorts World Manila last Thursday why they belong alongside some of the country's best performers such as Lea Salonga and Bamboo Mañalac, despite their very young age.

The group sang a medley of pop hits from Grammy-winner Rihanna, while the coaches soon followed with a series of mellow songs, namely Barbara Streisand's "He Touched Me" and the Passenger's "Let Her Go."

A flurry of performances -- of contestants from this season with those from the first as well as other singing competitions -- came after. Jovit Baldivino, who was the winner of Pilipinas Got Talent, was paired with Jimboy Garcia.

The two sang a repeat performance of the song Garcia performed for his Blind Auditions, Journey's "Faithfully," where he became the competition's first 3-chair turner.

Likewise, semi-finalist Edray Teodoro and Nathan Bautista performed their audition pieces -- this time with The Voice's Klarisse de Guzman and Mitoy Yonting, respectively.

Yeng Constantino, who won the reality show "Pinoy Dream Academy," was matched with Vibares, who again sang "Girl On Fire" -- which also became her moniker throughout the competition.

The highlight of the night, however, came from the performances of the competition's top three -- Labajo, Gairanod, and Espanto.

The young Filipino-Canadian artist sang "All of Me" with Labajo and his coach Bamboo, before mixing it up with former Team Sarah members de Guzman and Morissette Amon.

The season's grand champion, Gairanod, fittingly, sang with last season's winner Yonting. The two performed each other’s winning songs -- Didith Reyes' "Bakit Ako Mahihiya", and the Aegis classic "Halik."

Topping worldwide trends

As the benefit concert aired, the show's official hashtag #BosesNgBulilit shot to the top of Twitter's worldwide trends.

Several terms and song titles relating to the performances also trended locally on the microblogging site.

All proceeds for the benefit concert, which amounted to P420,000, was handed to charity organizations Lingkod Kapamilya and Sagip Kapamilya. It will be used to fund efforts to help the young victims of typhoons Yolanda and Glenda.
