MANILA, Philippines – Actress Iza Calzado refused to be compared to actress Sharon Cuneta now that she is set to host the second season of “Pinoy Biggest Loser.”

Cuneta hosted the first season of the reality show.

In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph, Calzado said she is aware that Cuneta is already an established star in the entertainment industry but maintained that she can hold her own in the said upcoming project.

“I don’t feel any pressure. Of course, I understand that she is the Megastar and in terms of her magnitude as a star in the Philippines, I can never fill in those shoes. But I also know where I stand in the health and fitness field and when it comes to this topic, when it comes to losing weight, I know I can hold my own,” she said.

Calzado said she is confident she can properly deliver hosting “Pinoy Biggest Loser.”

“It has nothing to do with anything but me and my journey. Kumbaga kampante ako sa kanya, na pinagdaanan ko yan,” she said.

First project

Meanwhile, Calzado revealed she gets overwhelmed when people commend her for her role in “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,” her first project as a Kapamilya since she transferred from another network last year.

“Masaya ako tuwing nakakatanggap ako ng tweets about it at meron pa ngang nagpapasimuno ng hashtag na earlier timeslot for the show and I really wish that we could come earlier but bahala na si Batman,” she said.

“But masayang-masaya ako dahil when I am doing a show I am really more concerned about my performance. like my rapport with my co-actors and director. But, you know, when people appreciate my work, our work, then 'yun talaga 'yung mas masarap ang feeling,” Calzado added.

The actress, however, admitted she feels pressured to sustain the viewers’ interest in the show.

“Siyempre to sustain it is mas nakaka-pressure. Parang now na it's actually airing and then nakaka-pressure na. You are working at the same time that you are trying to deliver a show and 'yung concerns mo rin eh not just how it is, the script itself and how to execute it, but the time. Like, you also have considerations na kailangan mong magmadal,i na dapat by next week ganito ganyan, tomorrow kailangan 'yung scene na ito,” she said.

Otherwise, Calzado said she is having a great time working with new people.

“Siyempre hindi ko pa rin memoryado lahat ng mga pangalan nila. Tapos nung una binibigyan ko sila ng sarili nilang names. Pero bukod dun na-realize ko na not so much a Kapamilya versus other stations, it's actually for growth and the chemistry of growth for the show, and the production. Kasi iba-iba talaga at nasa tao talaga at the end of the day and iba lang siguro 'yung expectations ng network para sa show. Iba 'yung process ng network sa isang network,” she said.
