5-year-old video stored in Bediones' broken laptop

MANILA - TV5 news anchor Paolo Bediones has filed a formal complaint before the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group in connection with a video scandal showing him having sex with an unidentified girl.

According to Police Chief Inspector Jay Guillermo, head of the investigation and intelligence section of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, they are now tracing the links of the video to determine who uploaded it on the Internet.

Based on the complaint filed by Bediones, Guillermo said the private video was taken five years ago.

The video was stored in the news anchor's laptop, which recently got broken and was brought to a technician for repair.

Three months after his laptop was repaired, Bediones allegedly received a letter blackmailing him, asking for something in exchange for not uploading his sex video on the Internet.

Guillermo said Bediones initially ignored the blackmail letter, thinking that the matter would just die down.

Last Sunday, however, the TV personality's sex video quickly went viral online.

The PNP said the people who uploaded the video will face charges for violating Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009. -- Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
