MANILA - TV host Kris Aquino was moved to tears during the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, at the Batasan Pambansa on Monday.
The 43-year-old actress could not contain her emotions when the President quoted their late father, slain Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr.
"The Filipino is worth dying for. The Filipino is worth living for. Idadagdag ko naman po, the Filipino is definitely worth fighting for," the President said.
Kris, who was seated between her sisters Maria Elena and Aurora Corazon, was later seen wiping her tears as the audience applauded.
The "Kris TV" host continued to be emotional as the President talked about his "second life" and his satisfaction with what his administration has achieved so far.
Just hours before the SONA, Kris took to Instagram to share an exchange of text messages between her son, Joshua, and the President, noting in its caption that "at our core, we remain a solid, united, loving and supportive family."
Along with her sisters, Kris wore yellow to the event -- a color identified with the legacy of their late mother, former President Corazon Aquino. Kris' dress was designed by Cary Santiago.
