MANILA, Philippines - Fans flocked to the University of the Philippines (UP) Film Center for the showing of the award-winning “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” on Tuesday during the opening of “Cinemalaya Goes to UP.”
Despite the gloomy weather, tickets for the show, starring 7th Cinemalaya best actress winner Eugene Domingo, were sold out.
The whole cast, including JM Guzman, Kean Ciprianoa and Cai Cortez, were present during the event, and they were joined by the film’s screenwriter, Chris Martinez.
Some of the showbiz personalities spotted among the audience during the opening were Mercedes Cabral, Iza Calzado and renowned director Brilliante Mendoza.
“Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” garnered a total of five major awards during the 7th Cinemalaya Awards Night [http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/lifestyle/07/25/11/babae-sa-septic-tank-wins-big-cinemalaya-2011 ] concluded on Sunday.
These were: best actress, best screenplay, best director, best film, and audience choice awards under the new full length category.
The film will be shown in 40 different cinemas in Metro Manila starting August 3.
