MANILA -- Acclaimed composer Ryan Cayabyab sang praises for the four finalists of "The Voice Kids" ahead of this weekend's finale.
On Saturday, Team Lea's Darlene Vibares, Team Sarah's Lyca Gairanod and Darren Espanto, and Team Bamboo's Juan Karlos Labajo will compete with each other to become the first winner of "The Voice Kids."
The champion will be named on Sunday at 6:15 p.m.
In an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com on Wednesday at the press conference for the 2014 PhilPop songwriting contest, Cayabyab revealed that he saw the performances of the four kids on YouTube.
"Although I don't watch it regularly, nakikita ko sa Facebook posts ng mga kaibigan ko. They are talking about Lyca and Darren. Na-try kong panoorin sa YouTube. Ang gagaling ha, ang mga bata, grabe. Pabata ng pabata, pagaling ng pagaling and then the coaches are really doing a very good job to the point na mayroon ng mga meme na nakakatawa," the composer said.
"I'm a big fan of (shows) looking for new talent, younger talent, so I wish 'The Voice' all the success that it can generate because it's really good for our industry. Who knows itong mga batang ito sila ang magiging big stars in the future?" he noted.
Cayabyab, who was previously involved in the TV talent search "Pinoy Dream Academy," also gave his unsolicited advice to the four kids.
"Kasi mga bata pa ang mga boses niyan, the first tip I would say, I hope alagaan nila ang mga boses nila because very fragile pa 'yan," he said. "Hopefully hindi masyadong magagasgas ang mga boses nila. Pero competition ito, hindi natin talaga alam kung ano ang pupuntahan ng mga kantahan na 'yan."
The veteran composer is also looking forward to work with the four finalists in the future.
"I'm sure makakatrabaho ko sila, especially every year sa ABS-CBN I do the Christmas special and normally sumasama ang mga winners sa competition like sila Mitoy (Yonting), Radha and Klarisse (de Guzman). So definitely makakasama ko sila," Cayabyab said.
