Rita Avila: It was hard to leave 'Walang Hanggan'
MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Rita Avila said she had no choice but to leave the hit series "Walang Hanggan" because of her health.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News during the launch of her second book "Si Erik Tutpik at si Ana Taba" over the weekend, Avila said she was just following the advise of her doctors.
"Pinapahinga ako ng doktor ko... masakit man sa loob ko iwanan ang No. 1 show, wala akong magawa," Avila said.
But even if she's no longer part of the top-rating primetime series, Avila continues to promote the soap.
"Nami-miss ko sila pero nagte-textan pa rin kami at nanonood pa rin ako ng show," Avila said.
it was her "Walang Hanggan" co-star Dawn Zulueta who said Avila left the show because she had to undergo therapy for a spine problem.
After leaving "Walang Hanggan," Avila returned to writing with her second book "Si Erik Tutpik at si Ana Taba."
Avila said the book is about children who suffer from bullying.
"Para sa mga batang napipintasan at laging niloloko sa itsura nila... uso ang bullying. Ang mensahe ng aking libro ay para sa mga naapektuhan ng bullying," Avila said.
Avila's first book was the inspirational "8 Ways to Comfort with Grace."
Among those who attended the launch of Avila's newest book were fellow actors Jean Garcia, Arlene Muhlach, Melissa Ricks and Jestoni Alarcon and CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida.
