MANILA – "It's not a perfect friendship, but it's a wonderful friendship nonetheless."
This is how Karylle described her friendship with Vice Ganda, with whom she had a rift in the past over an alleged comment made by her then fiancee, band vocalist Yael Yuzon.
Speaking to reporters during the Yahoo Celebrity Awards last week, Karylle said her friendship with Vice Ganda is something she truly treasures because she gets to learn from it day by day.
"We've had our ups and we've had our recent down," she said. "But, yun talaga yung friendship na masasabi ko na ang daming kong ngiti at crazy things na natututunan sa kanya."
Karylle said she considers her fellow "It's Showtime" host very dear to her because "he's helped me grow as a person."
"I like that about him, kasi there are friends who will just let you stay the way you are forever, which is good. But it's nice to be pushed to your limit. And that's one thing that I learn from him constantly, day to day. Kapag nag-i-improve ako, talagang sasabihin niya. It’s nice to have a friend like that," she said.
Asked if they now consider their previous misunderstanding as part of the past, Karylle said: "I wouldn't want to say it's past... It's part of who we are as friends."
"I think every single friendship is different. But what makes ours unique is that meron kaming pinagdaanang ganun. Basta meron din namang high. I really love Vice," she said.
The singer-host said it delights her every time Vice Ganda and her husband hang out together.
"Actually, meron silang sariling bonding topics na hindi ko puwedeng masabi ngayon, masyado siyang private. They have their own closeness. And it’s nice to see them when they hang out," she said.
