MANILA - Actor John Estrada revealed that her daughter Inah's decision to pursue a career in show business is "one of the reasons" why he is again on speaking terms with his former wife, actress Janice de Belen.
In an interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Tuesday, Estrada said de Belen has been talking to him about their children, despite her being vocal about cutting ties with him.
"Siyempre, well-being ng anak namin [ang concern namin]. Kung sinong magiging driver niya , magiging assistant niya sa mga tapings at sino magma-manage sa kanya," he said.
Estrada added that both of them have given their blessings to their eldest daughter who has joined the Star Magic talent pool.
"We both agreed on that," he said.
Estrada and de Belen were married in 1992. The two separated in 2001 amid rumors romantically linking Estrada to television host Vanessa del Bianco.
Asked if he warned Inah about suitors who may be susceptible to cheating, he said: "Ang magnanakaw ay takot sa sariling magnanakaw."
He also reminded his daughter that he can be a "jealous" father.
"Alam niya na pag may ginawa siyang hindi kaaya-aya ay lagot siya sa akin at ganoon din siguro kay Janice, lagot siya sa amin," he added.
Estrada also revealed that he is open to the possibility of again working with de Belen, saying he would gladly take the opportunity.
"Never kong sinabi na ayaw ko siyang makasama," he said.
Estrada remarried in 2011 to former beauty queen Priscilla Meirelles, with whom he has a baby girl named Anechka.
He described himself as more "mature" now, when asked about Meirelles' comments of him being "malandi in a friendly way."
"I guess nag-mature na ako. There's a difference between being friendly and being malandi," he said. "I can be too friendly but if my wife says that it's wrong, then I'll stop being too friendly."
