MANILA – Piolo Pascual admitted that he and Shaina Magdayao have decided to “preserve” their friendship amid long-standing rumors romantically linking them to each other.
In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Pascual said he is afraid he might not be able to have time for a relationship because he has a lot of responsibilities.
“Shaina and I are good friends eh, she's friends with my family, I'm friends with hers. I guess mas pinipili lang po siguro namin na i-preserve ang friendship namin. Kasi parang it’s hard for us now kasi pareho kaming busy sa trabaho and siguro lalo na ako dahil hindi ko na mabibigyan ng oras if ever I'm in a relationship. I have a son, I have a career, I have my life. So, unfair,” he said.
“Sa 24 oras na meron ako sa isang araw hindi ko po kayang isiksik 'yun sa isang araw. So I just have to be fair I guess,” he explained.
Pascual, however, clarified that he is not closing his doors on love. In fact, he is hoping to settle down in the near future with someone who is in her mid-20s, since he wants to have at least four kids.
“Preference lang naman po 'yun. Kasi siyempre I want to be able to have more kids so one every year. And I come from a very big family, six kami, I’m the youngest. I want to enjoy them while I am young. I want them to enjoy each other while siguro their mom and I are away,” he said.
When that time comes, Pascual said he will not think twice of quitting showbiz just to give his full attention to his family.
“The thing is, it’s hard to mix both. It’s hard to juggle both at the same time. If you get married and you have kids, mahirap nagtatrabaho ka tapos walang kasama sa bahay 'yung asawa mo at 'yung mga bata. I want to be able to prioritize that should it come to a point na kailangan ko na mag-settle,” he said.
On son Inigo
Meanwhile, Pascual confirmed reports that he indeed turned down offers for his son Inigo from Star Magic.
“Yes, there were offers but sabi ko, 'huwag na po muna, patapusin ko muna ng pag-aaral.' Mahirap, mahirap. If it was his choice, gusto niya dito. Nag-usap kami ng mommy niya, ‘Patapusin muna natin ng high school,’” he said.
“Ako naman kasi my only concern is studies. Kasi once na nag-artista na 'yan, hindi mo na mapipigilan 'yan eh. And when work gets in the way of course they'll choose to prioritize work,” he added.
Despite this, Pascual said he will fully support his son when that time comes that he indeed enters showbiz.
“Hindi ko na siya mapipigilan dahil ito pa nga lang wala pa siyang 18 may offer na. So sabi ko ‘Why not in the States? Once you get big in the States, automatic malaki siya sa Philippines. So sabi ko ‘Diyan ka muna, palaki ka muna,'” he said.
