MANILA - Victor Neri is making a showbiz comeback via ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Hawak Kamay" starring Piolo Pascual.
Neri took a break from show business in 2007 to pursue his dream of becoming a chef.
"I went around Asia and I became a chef. Studied about food all around Asia and cooked in different restaurants. Nagtrabaho naman talaga ako," Neri told ABS-CBNnews.com on the sidelines of the "Hawak Kamay" press conference on Friday.
Neri, who is part of Star Circle Batch 1, said he is really into cooking and he wanted to do it professionally.
"It's a different career that I can also call my own, my different side. That's me, parang 'yun ako," he said.
The actor said he is happy to be welcomed again by the industry, adding that he is excited to work with the big stars of ABS-CBN.
"Siyempre masaya ako na hindi nila nakalimutan 'yung effort that I put into my craft. Ganoon naman ako. Mas importante sa akin 'yung reaksyon ng direktor ng tao, kung masaya ba sila sa ginawa ko. I think it paid off na kahit wala na ako, pagbalik na pagbalik ko rito ay tinambakan ako ng script. So I'm very grateful for that.
"Even with ABS-CBN, when they found out I was here, I found I was going to tape for this show two days before the first taping," he said.
When asked how he is planning to juggle being a chef and an actor, Neri said: "The priority is 70% cooking and 30% acting. Fallback ko na lang kasi ito. If they want to call me and my schedule allows me at maganda ang bayad ay gagawin ko."
Aside from "Hawak Kamay", Neri is also part of "Ronda", the first indie film of comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas.
