MANILA, Philippines – Veteran actress Helen Gamboa and her niece Sharon Cuneta finally had time to catch up in person after figuring in a tiff due to their familes' political differences.

Gamboa is the wife of Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, while Cuneta is the wife of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan. Both belong to different political parties.
During the thanksgiving party of “Walang Hanggan” last July 16, Gamboa said Cuneta recently visited her at home.
“Nasa bahay siya nung isang araw. I’m so happy,” Gamboa said.
Even if they were not on speaking terms during the past two years, Gamboa said her love for Cuneta stayed the same.
“Hindi mo maaalis 'yung misunderstanding. But it was just a mere misunderstanding back then. Pero alam mo, si Sharon, no matter what happens, hindi maaaring hindi ko talaga patawarin kasi mahal na mahal ko ‘yan. Maski anong mangyari, hindi magbabago 'yun. Alam niya 'yun, na siya ang panganay kong anak,” she said.
In her earlier interview, Gamboa said she believes nothing can really outweigh one’s love for family. She said she never really considered her tiff with Cuneta a problem because she believes that they would eventually talk things over.
Gamboa said she wholeheartedly accepted Cuneta when she reached out to her through text.
It was only last May when Gamboa and Cuneta made amends.
Meanwhile, Gamboa is elated over the consistent high ratings of the series “Walang Hanggan,” where she plays the character of Doña Margaret.
She said even her family and Sotto get carried away with the story.
“Si Tito Sen naman natatawa siya, ‘Ano ba 'yan? Naaawa na ako sa Ate Henya mo!’ Sabi ko naman, ‘Ano ka ba? 'Yun ang dapat kong gawin. Kailangan sa eksena.’ Yung mga anak ko sinasabi sa akin na, ‘Natatawa kami kapag nakikita ka namin kasi you’re not like that at home. [But] we’re very proud of you that you’re doing your role really well,’” she shared.
Gamboa also thanked ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio, who convinced her to do the primetime show.
“Charo is very supportive. At talagang kasama siya sa brains behind this successful teleserye. Siya ang unang nag-encourage sa akin. Nung ginawa ko 'yung ‘Tayong Dalawa,’ medyo maldita na ako dun, pero ito mas malala. Sabi ko nga, ‘Charo, I will always be grateful to you.’ Sabi kasi niya tanggapin mo [yung role], and she's right, it’s really worth it. I’m happy to play Margaret,” she said.
