MANILA - Richard Yap will remain an ABS-CBN talent for another year.

The "Be Careful With My Heart" star formalized the deal recently with ABS-CBN executives, including broadcast head Cory Vidanes and TV production head Laurenti Dyogi.

"I'm very thankful to ABS-CBN for having faith in me, having trust in me," said Yap, whose first starring role with the network was in the primetime series "My Binondo Girl" in 2011.

According to Yap, the one-year contract includes his current role as family man Richard Lim in "Be Careful With My Heart," which will celebrate its second year on air with a concert at the Araneta Coliseum on July 25.

"We're all busy with preparing for the concert right now, so we're doing rehearsals, we're doing recordings and all that. We're trying to get ready for the big night," he said.

Asked what songs he will be performing at the thanksgiving event, Yap answered: "Surprise na lang 'yan. There will be a few old ones, but there will be a lot of newer songs."

After the recent two-year jump in "Be Careful With My Heart's" story, Yap said fans of the daytime series can look forward to following the journeys of other characters, aside from leads Richard and Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria).

"You'll see a lot of the characters going out on their own, like Luke (Jerome Ponce) starting to live his own life. He has his own condo and all that. The rest, like Nikki (Janella Salvador) also, is starting her college life.

"You'll see not only the lives of Richard and Maya, but also the lives of the other people who are involved. Si Tatay Arturo (Lito Pimentel) and Nanay Teresita (Sylvia Sanchez), how their relationship is going to blossom again. There's a lot of things to look forward to," he said.

On the possibility of doing other projects aside from "Be Careful With My Heart," Yap said he will be busy with the hit series for a few more months but expressed hopes of doing a new show next year.
