MANILA – It seems that just like his sister Antoinette, Tom Taus will be staying in the Philippines for a while.
This after the former child actor inked a contract with Viva Entertainment which involves a number of projects he is set to do in the coming months.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Taus said he is excited about this new development. He said he never thought new opportunities would be opened up for him during this Philippine trip, which was supposed to be just a vacation.
“I felt like this is a good move. I was going with the flow and the flow has been really fast. So I decided to work on some projects here and at the same time go back to LA and so some shows over there, so I’ll be going back and forth,” he said.
Asked what kind of projects he will be working on, Taus said: “Music is my first love right now so I want to focus on the music side, but I would consider acting.”
Taus said he would love to do acting projects again after over ten years, but only if he will be given a role which will leave a mark on the audience.
“It depends on the role. I want a good role, I don’t want to do just any project. I haven’t acted in a long time so if I’ll do something, I want it to be really good. Nakaka-miss din siya pero first love ko ngayon is music. Pero yung acting, I did that din for a long time before,” he said.
Although he is considering acting again, Taus said he specifically asked for music-related projects.
“Masaya ako sa ginagawa ko ngayon, music, performing live in front of people. It’s what I love. It’s a different feeling when you’re in front of the camera and then when you’re on stage with the crowd, you connect with people. So masaya nga ako. But at the same time, it will be cool to get back into that again,” he said.
When asked if someone will be jealous in case he gets paired with a Filipino actress, Tau said: “Single ako ngayon.”
“I’m single. I feel like I’m just starting to enjoy the Philippines again. Matagal akong nawala so parang it’s nice to just be able to do what you want and go to the places you haven’t been before and meet new people. I’m really enjoying this trip a lot. That’s why I wanted to establish myself here again,” he added.
Taus returned to the Philippines early this year, 14 years after leaving the country to migrate to the United States.
When their family moved to the US, Taus began making a name for himself in Hollywood as a DJ.
At 27, Taus is now known as "DJ Tommy T" to the Los Angeles club crowd. He and his sister also own an entertainment company.
