MANILA – Even after having her own teleserye, Julia Barretto humbly said she is still striving to build a name for herself in showbiz.
“I’m still in the process of still trying to make a name for myself. Siyempre I just don’t want to be Julia Barretto, the daughter of or the niece of. I want to be known as Julia Barretto as the actress, or be known for my craft or whatever I’m doing,” she told ABS-CBN News and other reporters in an interview last week.
Julia, who is the daughter of Marjorie and the niece of showbiz personalities Claudine and Gretchen, said she does not want to forever live in the shadows of her aunts and mom.
Asked how she plans to improve herself, Julia said: “Experience is the best teacher out there. I feel like everything that I go through every day will make me improve sa craft ko, sa pagkatao ko. It depends on you if you will choose to learn something out of every experience.”
Does Julia also get bothered whenever she gets compared to her aunts in terms of her physical looks?
“I’m always asked if may pressure to be beautiful and to look good all the time because I’ve got titas who are very beautiful, I must say. Pero I was never the type to be very pressured or to be very conscious na I have to be beautiful because they are beautiful,” she said.
“It definitely inspired me in a way na they are so beautiful, I want to be like them when I grow up. I want to be pretty too and be fabulous too like them,” she added.
Julia said hailing from a showbiz clan is something she values but stressed that she does not intend to stop establishing her own name.
Meanwhile, after her fantasy series “Mirabella,” Julia shared that she will again be working on another project although she cannot divulge its details yet.
“Definitely there’s something up next. Pero as of now, wala pa muna akong masasabi pero there’s something to look forward to,” she said.
