MANILA – "Huwag na huwag kayong titigil."
These were Sarah Geronimo's parting words to the Team Sarah members who failed to make the Top 2 after the Sing-Offs on "The Voice Kids" on Sunday.
A product of singing contests herself, Geronimo told the kids that they shouldn't give up.
"Huwag na huwag niyong isipin na hindi kayo magaling. Kanya-kanyang time lang 'yan kaya huwag na huwag kayong titigil kung hindi kayo manalo sa pagkakataong ito," the singer-actress said.
Geronimo chose Darren Espanto and Lyca Gairanod to advance to next week's Live Shows.
The four Team Sarah members who were not chosen to advance to next round still impressed all three coaches.
Gab a 'complete package'
Gab Gomez, who sang "American Boy" during the Sing-Offs, has emerged as a complete package, according to Bamboo Manalac.
"You just nailed it. You did what you had to do. You had to be the complete package and you’re doing it," he said.
Geronimo said she was surprised by the "100%" performance of the 13-year-old.
"Ginulat mo 'ko! Ang galling, galling mo! Hindi madali 'yung pinagdadaanan mo, pero still bawat performance mo sa 'Voice Kids' binigay mo 'yung puso mo. Binigay mo 'yung best mo—100% mo," she said.
Earl's 'unbelievable performance
Meanwhile, Earl Consolacion, who sang Regine Velasquez's "Ikaw," also impressed Coach Bamboo after hitting all the right notes during his Sing-Offs performance.
"Hitting those notes, 'yung range, 'yung being crystal clear—ang galing lang. I'm so impressed.
Geronimo, too, shared Manalac's sentiments, saying: "Talagang unbelievable kung saan nanggagaling 'yung ganyang kagaling na pag-awit."
Kyle's simplicity is beauty
Meanwhile, 13-year-old Kyle Bernido impressed Lea Salonga with her simple yet beautiful voice during her Sing-Offs performance.
"Maganda lang talaga 'yung tono ng boses mo, maganda lang 'yung texture… Kahit na simple, kahit nasa baba lang, magandang pakinggan," she said.
Geronimo added that Bernido has a distinct voice that makes her stand out among the rest.
"Alam mo ang iba sa 'yo kasi talaga ay 'yung boses mo—very distinct, walang ginagayang kahit sino. Pati vibrato mo, 'yung pagkahusky mo, ibang-iba," she said.
Diana will make Gary V proud
Diana Agustin, meanwhile, would make Gary Valenciano proud with her version of "Natutulog ba ang Diyos?" according to Salonga.
"Shaky ka sa umipisa pero nahanap mo naman din 'yung kailangan mong sundan para makanta mo siya nang maayos. I think Gravy V would be very proud of you," the Broadway actress said.
Geronimo also congratulated Agustin for being consistent throughout the competition.
"You've been very consistent sa accuracy mo, sa pagkanta, sa linis mo, sa clarity ng boses mo," she said.
