MANILA, Philippines – Batangas Governor Vilma Santos sent her condolences to the Quizon family following the death of Dolphy Tuesday night.

In a text message sent to ABS-CBN News, Santos said she has spoken to Dolphy’s son Eric Quizon and Dolphy’s partner Zsa Zsa Padilla to send her condolences.

Santos described Dolphy, dubbed the country’s “Comedy King,” as a simple person who always showed affection to others.

“He was such a simple person in flesh pero talagang komedyante siya dahil one-liner lang siya kung mag-joke pero matatawa ka. Basta naaalala ko, every time may greeting sa mga artista, mahilig siya mag-flying kiss bago magsabi ng ‘I love you,’” she said.

Santos starred with Dolphy in the 1963 film “King and Queen For A Day” when she was just 11 years old.

She again starred with the late "Comedy King" in the 1979 film “Buhay Artista Ngayon.”

Dolphy had been confined at the intensive care unit of the Makati Medical Center for a month before passing away Tuesday night due to multiple organ failure.

He was 83 years old. -- Report from Arnell Ozaeta, dzMM
