NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines – The relatives of James Yap here are hoping that the professional basketball player and his wife, Kris Aquino, will eventually reconcile.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Yap’s relatives said they are behind the efforts of the B-Meg Derby Ace's star player to win back his wife and save their marriage.

“We are supporting James because he is our relative. We will help him reconcile with his wife,” said Jay-R Yap, Yap’s cousin.

Stephanie Pamatian, Yap’s brother in law, was also hopeful that Yap and Aquino can iron things out with the help of prayers.

They also advised Yap to court his actress wife again.

“If I were him, I would woo Kris again so that he can save their marriage,” his cousin, James Pierre Yap, said.

Yap’s uncle, Edison Yap, said he knows that the basketball player wants to save his marriage to Aquino. “According to Caloy, James dad, James is hopeful that he can still save their marriage.”

Basketball enthusiasts in Yap’s home town of Escalante also shared the same sentiments. They said they hope that it is not yet too late for reconciliation.

They also noted that as a husband of Aquino, whose brother is President Benigno Aquino III, he can push for programs that will benefit Philippine sports. –Report from Mitch Lipa, ABS-CBN Negros
