Dolphy's condition continues to improve
MANILA, Philippines – Manny Boy Quizon, the eldest son of Dolphy, said his father's condition is now improving despite having pneumonia.
Quizon said the veteran actor continuous to be a fighter.
Quizon, who works as a mobile operation supply manager for a medical company in the U.S., returned to the Philippines and has been in the hospital for the past 10 days to attend to his father's needs.
“Noong dumating kami talagang medyo grabe pa ang lagay niya pero bumuti siya,” he said.
Because of his background in the medical field, he is closely monitoring every procedure that his dad is going through.
Quizon reported that his dad has been responsive in the past few days, nodding and using his eyebrows to respond.
He also said there have been a couple of times when his dad would answer “I love you too” even without a sound coming out from his mouth.
Meanwhile, Marikit Quizon, the eldest in Dolphy’s second family, said his father has been sleeping the whole morning because of his medication.
She said her father is still in a critical condition but is still fighting, with doctors telling them that the comedian is not giving up.
Dolphy's 18 children are taking turns to tend to their father.
Marikit said the whole family has become closer to each other having more time to bond.
"We take turns sa pagbabantay. Kapag may napagod, bababa ang iba tapos magpapalit kami. Maraming karelyebo," she said.
Marikit works as a dialysis technician in the U.S and is also closely monitoring his father's every dialysis.
She also said Dolphy's partner, singer Zsa Zsa Padilla, is fine and doing well.
“She’ll pulling through. Ang nakikita naman namin, we’re all stronger kasi nga marami kaming support from each other eh. Zsa Zsa is okay,” she said.
Both Marikit and Manny Boy said their family had chosen actor and director Eric Quizon as the one in charge or overseer. Eric was also appointed by Dolphy to be in charge of family affairs while he is in the hospital.
