Julia, Enrique, Enchong dubbed primetime 'idols'
MANILA, Philippines -- Two new programs will join ABS-CBN's primetime block starting Monday, July 8, including a South Korean drama series starring "Full House" star Song Hye-kyo.
Based on a Japanese drama series aired in 2002, "That Winter, The Wind Blows" tells the story of Xander (Zo In-sung) and Yoona (Song), whose paths cross when he pretends to be her long-lost brother. Legally blind and an orphan, Yoona is the sole heiress of a business empire.
First aired in South Korea in February this year, the series ran for 16 episodes in the country and was reportedly the top-rated program during its timeslot.
The July 8 premiere of "That Winter, The Wind Blows" places it in a Primetime Bida line-up alongside the Judy Ann Santos comeback soap "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," the Coco Martin-starrer "Juan dela Cruz," and another debuting series, "Muling Buksan ang Puso."
Directed by Manny Palo ("Sta. Niña," "A Moment in Time") and Nuel Naval ("A Secret Affair," "Magkaribal"), "Muling Buksan ang Puso" features Kapamilya stars Julia Montes, Enrique Gil and Enchong Dee.
Leading up to the soap's Monday debut, a teaser featuring its lead cast members was released Thursday dubbing them the new "Primetime Bida Idols."
Aside from the three, "Muling Buksan ang Puso" boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including showbiz veterans Susan Roces, Dante Rivero and Pilar Pilapil, along with Agot Isidro, Jestoni Alarcon and Cherie Gil.
"That Winter, The Wind Blows" and "Muling Buksan ang Puso" will replace the the Angelica Panganiban drama "Apoy sa Dagat" and the South Korean series "Missing You," which are both airing their respective final episodes on Friday.
Also set to join ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida line-up at a later date is "Got to Believe," the second series featuring the tandem of teen stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
