MANILA - "Tomorrow is another day!"
This was Batangas Governor Vilma Santos' answer when asked for her reaction to the online buzz surrounding a spelling mistake she made, which went public when TV host Kris Aquino posted a photo of it on Instagram Tuesday.
In a text message to ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual, the actress-politician shrugged off her critics and said she would rather focus on work in her province.
Her statement read, unedited: "Am sooo fine mario .. Maliit na issue .. Napalaki lang !! Ok lang yan !! Honest mistake !! Hehe ! Tomorrow is another day !! :)) Trabaho lang ako at importante yun ...salamat !!"
Aquino, in her Instagram post, shared a photo of a dedication card attached to a box of ensaymada Santos gave her as a gift.
The card read: "Dearest Kris, Thank you sooo much for believing in me! I truely [sic] appreciate it friend... Life is short... Enjoy it - you are so bless [sic]... God is good. Smile :) - Ate Vi"
In a text message, which Aquino also posted on Instagram, Santos informed the TV host that she is "being bashed because of your instagram post."
"I guess marami pa akong dapat matutunan. I take all of these as constructive criticisms. Tao lang; nagkakamali. Sa mga bashers… Salamat po. Again, thanks for believing in me. Until next time," the message read.
The image also showed Aquino's response to Santos' text message. She said sorry for triggering the round of bashing, admitting she "didn't think about the wrong spelling because what mattered to me was your kindness and the thought behind the card."
Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas on Wednesday also came to the defense of Santos. She questioned the need for "bashing" the veteran actress, and also expressed regret that Aquino, with whom she is known to have a rift, had to shared the photo of Santos' card online.
