MANILA - Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta will join teen stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in "She's Dating The Gangster," according to a promotional poster released Tuesday for the highly anticipated film.

The official poster, which was unveiled by producer Star Cinema across its social media accounts, details the cast members of the movie. They include Gomez and Zulueta, who will both have a "special participation."

This was the first mention of the former couple's involvement in "She's Dating The Gangster," although no further details about their respective roles have been released.

Considered as one of the most popular "love teams" in the '90s, Gomez and Zuleta's tandem recently gained popularity anew, thanks to a sting of successful TV projects, including "Walang Hanggan" in 2012.

Also joining Padilla and Bernardo in "She's Dating The Gangster" are Khalil Ramos, Igi Boy Flores, Marco Gumabao, Pamu Pamorada, Alexander Diaz, John Uy and Yana Asistio.

The movie, which is based on the bestselling book by Bianca Bernardino, centers on 17-year-old Athena (Bernardo) as she strikes a deal with school heartthrob Kenji (Padilla) to pretend to be his girlfriend, in the hope of making his ex-girlfriend jealous.

A recently released trailer for the film gives a glimpse of Bernardo and Padilla playing different characters, apparently in a different setting from the '90s romance of Athena and Kenji. Padilla's character is surprised to know that his father was a gangster, whose "great love" is revealed to be Athena.

Slated to hit theaters on July 16, "She's Dating the Gangster" will be the third big-screen outing of the rumored couple, following "Must Be... Love" and "Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay," which were both released last year.

The film is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, who previously worked with both Padilla and Bernardo in the hit television series "Got To Believe."
