MANILA - The first Battles episode of "The Voice Kids" won big in ratings nationwide, according to Kantar Media, making the singing competition the most watched program over the weekend.

The June 28 telecast of the ABS-CBN program, wherein Broadway star Lea Salonga fielded her first four Battle groupings, garnered a national TV rating of 34.2%, while the episode that aired on June 29, which introduced Team Lea's top two artists, got 35.8%.

The numbers ranked "The Voice Kids" as the overall No. 1 show in the Philippines on both days, continuing its unbeaten streak atop the list since its May 24 premiere.

From 18 artists, Team Lea is now down to its last pair who will both represent Salonga in the live semi-finals -- 11-year-old Tonton Cabiles, Jr. and 9-year-old Darlene Vibares.

This Saturday and Sunday, rock icon Bamboo Manalac will take his turn in fielding young artists in The Battles and The Sing-Offs. Pop star Sarah Geronimo's team will take the stage the following weekend.

"The Voice Kids," hosted by Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga, airs Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. and on Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
