12-year-old boy cries after winning 'close' Battle
MANILA - Tarlac's Jimboy Garcia emerged as the winner of one of Team Lea's closest Battles of "The Voice Kids" on Sunday night.
Coach Lea Salonga admitted that deciding who among Garcia, Rein Pineda and Angelique Trinidad should win the Battle rounds was tough for her since the kids did really well.
Proof of this is the different opinions from the coaches after the kids sang a powerful rendition of "Anak ng Pasig," originally sung by The Smokey Mountains.
Bamboo Manalac picked Trinidad by just an inch over the other contestants, while Sarah Geronimo picked Pineda.
In the end, however, Salonga chose Garcia, 12, despite the powerful voices of the two other contestants.
''What made Jimboy so different [is] when he sustains a note, he just sounds so special and unique. That's the reason why I put him through," explained Salonga.
After he won, an emotional Garcia ran back to his parents shedding tears of joy.
"The Voice Kids," hosted by Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga, airs Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. and on Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
