MANILA, Philippines - House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez hopes the new leadership at the Supreme Court (SC) can help expedite Comedy King Dolphy’s nomination and award as national artist.
This, as Suarez reiterates his move to have Comedy king Dolphy declared as a national artist.
”We all know that Dolphy is now in critical condition. Last November 2010, I already filed House Resolution No. 581 to declare Dolphy as a national artist. We are hoping that this accolade be given to him before it is too late.“
Suarez notes Dolphy’s contribution to Philippine pop culture.
“We have to admire talent where talent is. Talaga namang I think it will take generations before we can come up with somebody like him who knows how to dance, who can sing and who can make people laugh. Isa siguro yung na-perfect ni Dolphy ung timing kung paano magpatawa. Magaling talaga.”
Suarez hopes the justices of the Supreme Court can now act on a pending case which has derailed Dolphy’s nomination as national artist.
Dolphy’s nomination was among those affected by a restraining order which the high court issued following the furor over the nomination of controversial film director Carlo Caparas.
”It [Dolphy nomination] should be treated as a different issue....They can expedite the resolution on that TRO," Suarez said.
