MANILA - Ai Ai delas Alas admitted on Thursday that she is "getting to know" someone new, more than a year after the controversial end of her short-lived marriage to businessman Jed Salang.

The veteran comedienne, 49, clarified that she is not in a relationship, but has been open to dating since she got divorced from Salang last January.

Delas Alas was asked about the topic on the sidelines of a story conference for her upcoming film with Kim Chiu and Xian Lim. Produced by Star Cinema and under the direction of Mae Cruz, the project with the working title "Past Tense" will start shooting in July.

"Hindi ako inspired! Expired ako!" delas Alas quipped, when quizzed on whether she has a new romance.

While she did not mention anyone in particular, delas Alas offered that the men she goes out with are usually younger than her, noting that most men her age are already married.

"Parati namang mas bata 'yung nali-link talaga sa akin, kasi first, iyon 'yung binata. Parati namang mas bata talaga," she said.

Asked how she would classify the status of her relationship with the mystery man, delas Alas said, "Baka nandoon lang sa 'getting-to-know-each-other' muna, medyo matagal na."

Despite her last marriage ending badly, delas Alas said she still has the full support of her children when it comes to finding a partner. The actress has two children with former husband Miguel Vera, and an older son from a previous relationship.

Pag hindi na, bye," she said.
