MANILA – TV host-model Phoemela Baranda is hoping the “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) stint of Nichole would help strengthen their mother-daughter relationship.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual on Tuesday, Baranda admitted that she is following the reality show closely so she could still look after her daughter, despite her physical absence.
“For me talaga, malaking tulong sa amin 'yun kasi hindi naman kaila sa mga tao na our relationship is not that strong yet. After nun, siyempre natakot siya dahil nalaman ng mommy niya pero it made them closer,” she said, referring to the former "PBB" housemate.
Baranda, however, expressed concern now that the older housemates, particularly Jayme Jalandoni and Michele Gumabao, have been evicted.
In a past episode of "PBB," Nichole confessed that she has difficulty opening up to her mom, saying she even finds it awkward to express her love for her. Nichole also turned emotional when asked how much she values her mother. She answered that her biggest fear is losing her as she has no other family members.
Baranda, 33, first introduced Nichole as her daughter in October 2013 in a televised interview. At the time, Baranda revealed that Nichole grew up thinking they were sisters, as she was raised by her maternal grandmother. The death of her mother, Baranda recalled, pushed her to finally fulfill her responsibilities to Nichole as a parent.
Having been apart for over two months now, Baranda said she misses her daughter all the time but she is also praying that Nichole’s journey inside the famous yellow house would not end yet.
“For me, siyempre magkahalong kaba, excitement and lungkot kasi super nami-miss ko na si Nichole.
Asked if she has any message for Nichole, Baranda said, “I super super super super miss you. Kayanin mo lang ang mga tasks ni Kuya and be a good girl inside the house.”
