MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Claudine Barretto expressed her disappointment that she can't visit Comedy King Dolphy at the Makati Medical Center because she is also not feeling well.
"I got a call from Boy 2 (Quizon, one of Dolphy's grandsons) na punta ka na dito. Isa ito sa pinakakakatakutan ko 'yung makarinig ng bad news, anything bad about tatay Dolphy's health," she said.
"I felt helpless kasi din ako makapunta dahil may sakit din ako," she added.
Barretto, who played Dolphy's daughter in the ABS-CBN sitcom "Home Along Da' Riles" for almost 12 years, said she considered the veteran actor her second dad.
"Napaka-special, if not 'yun ang pinaka-special na sitcom para sa akin. It's a privilege for me to be a part of 'Home Along Da Riles,' for me to be able to work with the King of Comedy na tinuring ako bilang isang anak," Barretto said.
Barretto said that like millions of Filipinos, she believes that Dolphy will recover soon.
She also appealed to all to keep on praying for Dolphy and his family.
"Fighter talaga. Alam ko na mahaba ang buhay ni tatay," she said. "Maraming nagmamahal sa inyo, kay Tatay Dolphy, maraming nagdarasal para suportahan kayo. Hindi kami titigil sa pagpi-pray for his full recovery."
Asked for her massage to Dolphy, Barretto tearfully said: "I love you, tatay."
On Sunday, Dolphy's son Eric Quizon told "The Buzz" that his father is still in critical condition and has underwent tracheostomy.
Dolphy has been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which hinders the flow of air to the lungs. The condition is generally permanent and may be progressive over time.
