MANILA -- Actor Piolo Pascual and other celebrities weighed in on the debate over Malacanang's decision to exclude veteran actress Nora Aunor from the list of new National Artists.
In an interview on Tuesday at the sidelines of the Hawak Kamay Family Day at Hospicio de San Jose in Manila, Pascual said Aunor "for sure" deserves the recognition.
"With all her achievements I don't know if it's still needed. Kailangan pa ba nating gawaran ng ganoon? I mean, let the achievements or whatever recognition she's had speak for what she has done for this country, 'yun na 'yon. Hindi mo na kailangan ng recognition or anything,"he said.
Currently, Pascual is excited over his upcoming series "Hawak Kamay," with child stars Yesha Camille, Xyriel Manabat and Zaijian Jaranilla, as well as Nikki Gil and Iza Calzado.
On Tuesday morning, action star Robin Padilla also defended Aunor in an interview with ABS-CBN's morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda, saying he is angry at the snub.
