Alma wants Vandolph to be strong
MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Alma Moreno turned emotional as she joined calls for prayers for Dolphy, who is now in critical condition.

son with Dolphy
Moreno on Friday urged supporters of the King of Comedy to pray that he struggles no more as he continues to be under intensive care at the Makati Medical Center.
Moreno, who was Dolphy's partner for 8 years, recounted how their son Vandolph broke the news to her of his father's failing health.
Worried for Vandolph
She said she is worried for her son, and that she had encouraged the former child star to stay strong amid trying moments.
"Noong tumawag sa'kin si Vandolph, umiiyak na siya, last week, [sabi niya,] 'Ma, dumalaw ka,'" Moreno said.
"Ang worry ko lagi -- nakaalalay ako sa anak ko," Moreno said as she tried to hold back tears.
Visit to Dolphy
Moreno had shown support to Vandolph during her recent visit to Dolphy, when she had a light moment with the veteran actor despite his condition.
Despite parting ways as a couple, Moreno said she and Dolphy have continued to be good friends -- a testament, she said, to the Philippine film icon's kindness that has endeared him to the masses.
Maraming taong nagmamahal sa kanya," Moreno said.
"Kaya hanggang ngayon, andyan parin siya lumalaban," she added.
On Friday evening, Dolphy's son Eric Quizon said his father is suffering from pneumonia anew.
The king of Philippine comedy remains confined at the intensive care unit of the Makati Medical Center, where he was brought to over a week ago also because of pneumonia.
Dolphy is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which hinders the flow of air to the lungs.
