MANILA, Philippines – Star cager James Yap said he was never after former wife Kris Aquino’s properties, adding that division of properties was never a problem during the process of their annulment.
|Star cager James Yap talks about his life after separation with former wife Kris Aquino.
In an interview with Ces Drilon for “Pipol on ANC,” Yap reacted to criticisms that he got more than he deserved during their settlement.
Yap said Aquino had no problems with whatever he got after their separation.
Kung ano 'yung meron ako, kagustuhan ni Kris,” he said.
Yap also emphasized that he did not demand anything from Aquino.
“Hindi ako nag-demand. Basta kung ano 'yung nasa akin ngayon, kagustuhan ni Kris na ganon ang mapunta sa akin,” he said.
Since Aquino is one of the country's most popular stars, it is well known that she is also among the highest paid celebrities.
Aquino, who is dubbed Queen of All Media, had a total taxable income of P101 million in 2010, for which she paid taxes of P32.3 million, according to the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
Asked if he ever felt uncomfortable about Aquino's bigger earnings, Yap said: “Actually, honestly, meron talagang time na ganon.
Yap, however, stressed that he was also able to contribute to their conjugal wealth.
So siguro walang issue sa ganong part. Hindi ko naman hinabol 'yung kinita niya,” he said.
Yap even said he and Aquino never fought over financial matters.
Hindi man lang kami nag-away regarding sa ganong bagay,” he said.
The annulment of the marriage between Yap and Aquino was announced last February. They were together for five years.
