MANILA, Philippines – Twenty years since their on-screen team-up blossomed into a real-life relationship, actor Richard Gomez recounted the cause of his separation with former girlfriend actress Dawn Zulueta.

Gomez and Zulueta, more than two decades after their 1991 film "Hihintayin Kita sa Langit," have reprised their love team via top-rating ABS-CBN series "Walang Hanggan."
Since co-starring anew as Marco and Emily, Gomez said he and Zulueta have had conversations recounting their heyday romance, including the reason behind their break-up.
"Tinanong ko nga siya noon. 'Dawn, ba't ba tayo nag-break noon?' Sabi niya, 'Hindi mo matandaan?' Sabi ko, Hindi ko talaga matandaan kung bakit eh,'" Gomez told entertainment talk show "Showbiz Inside Report."
"Sabi niya, 'Hoy, ilang beses kita nahuli, ‘no!' 'Ah, ganun ba,' sabi ko, 'Sino?'" Gomez said, laughing.
Gomez, who is now married to Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres, said he did not expect that his "love team" with Zulueta would still become a hit after so many years.
"Pinag-uusapan nga namin eh, hindi namin akalain na nagkaroon ng resurgence du'n sa love team namin. Biglang nagkaroon ng comeback 'yung pagsasama namin. Natuwa kami dahil ngayon talagang sinusunduan ng tao 'yung Richard and Dawn love team," Gomez said.
Zulueta is now married to Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo.
"Walang Hanggan" airs weeknights during the Primetime Bida block of ABS-CBN.
