MANILA -- A young singer used her heart and picked Sarah Geronimo over the two other coaches when the actress-singer promised to give her all -- including actor John Lloyd Cruz.
Thirteen-year-old Khen Lobaton from Bacolod City showed off her talent by singing Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind," which impressed all three coaches.
Broadway star Lea Salonga turned first, with Bamboo Mañalac and Sarah Geronimo turning just before Lobaton finished her performance.
Mañalac urged Lobaton to choose him, noting that her attitude and talent make her perfect for his team. "I need you on my team," he said.
"You're singing about New York, my city, the city that has given me so much success over the years. You're mine, that's the end of the story," Salonga said.
Geronimo then vowed to do everything to help Lobaton.
"Mag-uumpisa ka muna dito sa 'The Voice,' bago ka makarating sa iba't ibang parte ng mundo, at karangalan ko na maging bahagi ng journey mo, sa pagtupad ng pangarap mo. So if you will let me be your coach, ibibigay ko lahat ng nalalaman ko," she said.
Lobaton then asked Geronimo if that includes Cruz.
"May John Lloyd ba tayo diyan? Wala. Busy kasi ang bebe ko ngayon eh," Geronimo replied.
Salonga then called "The Voice of the Philippines" winner Mitoy Yonting onstage to convince Lobaton to join her team.
But Lobaton eventually chose to be part of Team Sarah.
By the end of the Sunday's episode, Salonga's team gained Shanne Dandan, while Lobaton and Kyle Bernido went to Geronimo.
Mañalac, on the other hand, have three new recruits: Gem Capalad, Stacy Pineda and Allina Malaiba.
