MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Actor Boy 2 Quizon said his grandfather, Comedy King Dolphy, is still under observation since he was rushed to the hospital last Saturday.

In a text message sent to ABS-CBN News, Quizon said the veteran actor is responding well to medication.

He also thanked all those who are praying for Dolphy’s fast recovery.

“My lolo was sent to the hospital last Saturday because of pneumonia. They had to attach a respirator in order to help him breathe. Currently, his vitals are in order and he is responding to treatment well,” Boy 2 said.

Dolphy's son Eric Quizon, in another message to ABS-CBN News, said that their family is looking forward to removing the respirator as the Comedy King's condition improves.

"He has stable conditions at the moment. If this continues, they might remove respirator by tonight. These are all good news. However, we will see how he responds to removal of respirator. Let's all cross our fingers that he responds well. Please continue praying," Eric said.

Dolphy, who will turn 85 on July 25, has been struggling with a faltering immune system, his long-time partner Zsa Zsa Padilla confirmed in February.

In a taped message last April, the Comedy King said he is thankful to his fans and all those who continue to pray for his recovery.
