MANILA – The four visiting stars from the hit American TV show “Glee” were overwhelmed with the reception they received in the Philippines.

Becca Tobin, Jacob Artist, Melissa Benoist and Dean Geyer were all in the country to take part in the local unveiling of Coca-Cola's new beverage.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Tobin said she finds Filipinos very sweet and enthusiastic.

“The Filipino fans are so enthusiastic and positive. It’s always just positive, happy and excited. Sometimes we don’t get that. We get bullied a little bit because the American fans can be a little aggressive. But it’s so nice that we make people as happy as they seem,” she said.

Geyer, for his part, said it was a relief seeing warm Filipino “gleeks.”

“When you have fans like the Filipinos, it does takes the pressure off a little bit. Part of the pressure comes from how people see you in your character,” he said.

Artist, meanwhile, said just the thought that their show reaches an audience halfway around the world is “crazy.”

“When we shoot the show, we’re like in this little bubble and it is so great to come and meet these fans especially in the Philippines because they have been so sweet to us. It’s crazy to think about it,” he said.

Artist said “Glee” has really helped each of them to reach out to their supporters in any part of the world.

“It is pretty surreal. If you could tell us a year ago that we would be in the Philippines doing this, we wouldn’t have believed it. The most fulfilling part is to see the people that make it possible,” he said.

All four “Glee” cast members agree that Filipinos are nice and welcoming. But another thing that they love about the country is its tropical weather.

On Charice and Jessica

Meanwhile, Tobin, Artist, Benoist and Geyer also lauded Pinoy talents Charice and Jessica Sanchez.

“Jessica was around us quite a bit when we were doing regionals. She was so so sweet, down to earth and really really talented. Charice is incredible too,” said Benoist.

According to Artist, it was fun working with Sanchez because he used to just watch her on the singing competition “American Idol.”

The “Glee” stars also lauded Charice for bravely admitting her sexual preference on national television.

“Our show is about showing the true you. The fact that she did that, so great and brave,” said Artist.

“It is easier said than done for someone to actually do it, it sure is very difficult,” Tobin added.

Charice played the role of Sunshine Corazon in season 2, while Sanchez portrayed the character of Frida Romero in season 4.
