MANILA – Television host Kris Aquino has chosen to remain silent amid issues hurled at her short-lived relationship with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
In her Instagram account on Monday, Aquino posted a screen-capture of an exchange of messages between her and veteran entertainment editor Ricky Lo.
Lo asked the host-actress whether there is anything she would like to say after Bautista was grilled on “Bandila” last Friday about Aquino.
Aquino simply replied: “Nothing to say. Love you Tito Ricky.”
In the post’s caption, Aquino admitted that she would have wanted to defend herself.
“It is tempting to defend myself but what for? I've stumbled several times in my public handling of private breakups. And after all those experiences, thank God NATUTO NA KO,” she wrote.
Emphasizing that she finds peace in keeping quiet, Aquino then shared what her good friend, TV host Boy Abunda, told her about handling controversies.
“Kagaya ng sinabi ni Boy Abunda, pag mainit pa ang sitwasyon at marami kang nabitawang salita pag kalmado na, pinahirapan mo lang ang sarili mo kasi ang dami mong kailangan walisin at ayusin. At 43 years old, finally learning when it's best to just keep my mouth shut,” she said.
On Friday's telecast of "Bandila," Bautista was asked a series of questions about Aquino on the show's "Yes or No" segment.
Bautista was first asked if the two were ever in a relationship. He quickly answered “yes” but was clearly taken aback when anchor Karen Davila followed up with: "Mahal mo ba si Kris Aquino?"
Seeing that Davila and her co-anchors Ces Drilon and Julius Babao were waiting for an answer, Bautista replied: "Oo."
The former actor was then prodded further on whether he would like to get back together with the actress or if he would ever court Aquino again, to which he answered "no" to both.
Bautista was also asked to explain why the relationship ended, just roughly a week after Aquino confirmed being "partners" with the city mayor.
"Yung mga anak ko siyempre. I love my children," he said.
Aquino first admitted on national TV that she and Bautista were dating on April 7. Two weeks after that, Aquino debuted her new, short hairstyle during the live telecast of her primetime talk show "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," hinting that the change was over a heartache.
