MANILA, Philippines – A second series that serves as a sequel to top-rating ABS-CBN soap “Walang Hanggan” is said to be in the works.

"Walang Hanggan" stars Coco Martin and Julia Montes

A “book two” of “Walang Hanggan,” which is currently enjoying its immense success on primetime television, is already in the planning stage, according to Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez.

Lucy is the wife of actor Richard Gomez who plays the role of Marco, one of the lead characters in the series.

“They’re going to have a book two, I hear. And it’s just nice how the people have embraced the whole cast and how they’ve welcomed ‘Walang Hanggan’ as part of their nightly viewing habit,” she said in a recent interview during the launch of a cosmetics line.

“ABS-CBN never does anything half-baked, so they’ve always been known for their wonderful teleseryes. They’ve always been known to market it in such a big way,” she added.

Should Book 2 of “Walang Hanggan” will push through, it won’t be the first ABS-CBN soap to get a sequel.

“Maging Sino Ka Man” in 2006 (John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo) and “Angelito: Batang Ama” in 2011 (JM de Guzman) are among the network’s primetime shows that received a second series.

“Walang Hanggan” is top billed by Coco Martin, Julia Montes, Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.

The show airs weeknights during ABS-CBN’s “Primetime Bida” block.
