MANILA, Philippines – Actress Jodi Sta. Maria could not believe that at her age, she would still be part of a love team.
Sta. Maria, who used to be paired with actors Baron Geisler and Rafael Rosell, is set to star in her very own soap.
Here, she will play the role of a provincial girl who will fall in love with the character of Richard Yap, known to his fans as “Papa Chen” of defunct ABS-CBN series “My Binondo Girl.”
“Nakakatawa ‘yung term na love team. Parang teenybopper. Nakaka-excite naman din kahit papaano na sa edad namin mayroon pa ring love team. Uso pa rin,” Sta. Maria said in an interview with Push.com.ph.
“First time kong makakatrabaho si Papa Chen. Talagang Papa Chen ang tawag kay Richard. Na-excite ako kasi alam ko na bagong experience. Alam kong marami akong matututunan from him,” she added.
Sta. Maria also talked about her role in her upcoming series.
“Ang role ko rito, isang babaeng taga-probinsiya. Very positive ang outlook niya sa life. Kahit sobrang sama na ‘yung nangyayari sa paligid niya, nakakakita pa rin siya ng good thing out of the bad things na nangyayari. Believer siya ng love.
“’Yung ideal love para sa kanya ‘yung love between her parents. Tapos pumunta siya ng Manila para maghanap ng mas magandang buhay, hanggang sa minalas-malas at magkakilala sila ni Richard sa story.”
Sta. Maria announced her separation with Pampi Lacson last year. They have a son, nicknamed Thirdy.
Her new ABS-CBN series with Yap, which also stars Mutya Orquia, will hit television screens soon.
