MANILA, Philippines -- A scene showing Kim Chiu beaten up in "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" sent netizens abuzz on Tuesday night, amid hot anticipation for the top-rating series' final episode.
The Primetime Bida series warned viewers of violence in its June 4 telecast, with a Strong Parental Guidance (SPG) advisory airing before scenes showing the 23-year-old actress' character dragged by her hair and hit numerous times with a plank.
Celyn had been kidnapped by Mio (John Regala) and Diego (Alex Medina), the father and son out for revenge on their victim's mother, Teresa (Cherry Pie Picache) -- the same woman who they think turned their back on them as her own family several years back.
After her failed attempt to escape being held hostage, Celyn further angers a hysterical Mio. She is then seen pleading for Mio to stop, after being hit twice on her leg.
On micro-blogging site Twitter, netizens following the episode lauded the acting of both Chiu and Regala, with several calling the scene "intense."
A unified hashtag used by fans of the show online, "#PrimetimePrincessKimChiuAtHerBest," also made it to the top local trending topics on Twitter shortly after the episode aired.
"Ina, Kapatid, Anak" is set to air its final episode Friday next week after eight months on air as one of the country's most watched TV programs.
