MANILA - Angel Locsin revealed that most of the blows in the now-famous "The Legal Wife" scene wherein she attacks Maja Salvador used real force, as required by their directors.
In a live interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Wednesday, Locsin said she hesitated to do the scene as planned, which was to stick to the choreography, but to perform it with force.
The brawl, which aired on May 21, showed an enraged Monica (Locsin) attacking Nicole (Salvador) after finding out that she recently saw her husband, Adrian (Jericho Rosales).
The violent scene has Monica holding Nicole by her hair and hitting her several times. Monica is only pacified when Nicole makes a panicked confession that she is pregnant with Adrian's child.
"Ni-meeting talaga kami no'n," Locsin recalled.
Locsin explained that their directors, Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao, had specific instructions on how to go about the scene.
"Pero 'yung puwersa, sinabi talaga sa amin na wala talagang alalay, as in, wala. Kinausap kami pareho [ni Maja]. 'Ayoko ng may alalay. Pag may nakita akong alalay, uulitin [niyo] ang eksena,'" she said.
'Mahal ko si Maja'
After the meeting with the production staff, Locsin talked with Salvador to ask if she was amenable to how the scene would be executed. Despite expressing her hesitation, Locsin said Salvador chose to do as the job demanded.
And 'yung pagkayakap niya kay Nicole, buong-buo talaga," she said.
The scene proved difficult for Locsin, as she did not want to hurt Salvador. "Mahal ko kasi si Maja, e. Napakabait. Walang pinakitang masama sa akin 'yung bata," Locsin said.
"Ang hirap. Kasi ako, as much as possible, kung kaya kong dayain, kung kaya kong idaan sa acting, gagawin ko, kasi ba't ko naman sasaktan, 'diba?"
No hard feelings
After filming the brawl, Locsin recalled turning red out of "fear" that she hurt Salvador. Admittedly, she was also concerned that the scene might cause a rift between them.
In a separate interview with ABS-CBN News, Matet de Leon, one of the cast members of "The Legal Wife," revealed that Salvador sustained bruises on her nape and the back of her left ear.
Also starring JC de Vera, Rio Locsin, Mark Gil, and Christopher de Leon, "The Legal Wife" will air its highly anticipated final episode on June 13.
