MANILA -- Random commuters and passers-by near the Manila City Hall were recently treated to a surprise concert by Lani Misalucha, who sang tracks from her comeback album "The Nightingale Returns."
In two videos released online over the weekend by producer Star Records, Misalucha is seen surrounded by a huge crowd as she performed her cover of "Anak" and "Starting Over Again."
Misalucha, who is dubbed "Asia's Nightingale," wore simple clothes and gamely interacted with her audience, many of whom appeared starstruck with the veteran performer.
As Misalucha performed, several of those watching her had their phones out to record the surprise show, while others dropped donations and asked for photos with the singer.
The mini-concert took place shortly after a social experiment where Misalucha went undercover as a blind "bangketa" singer for the music video for "Saan Darating Ang Umaga," another track from her latest album.
She only took off her shades and introduced herself after finishing the experiment, which tapped the help of actual "bangketa" singers Mel and Flor.
"Marami pong biglang tumayo doon at tumigil para makinig at manood sa pagtatanghal ko kanina," Misalucha said in the earlier released video for "Saan Darating Ang Umaga."
"I'll always treasure this moment," she added.
