ABS-CBN rules nationwide ratings anew
MANILA - ABS-CBN swept the list of the 10 most watched shows in the Philippines in May, according to Kantar Media, with the recently launched "The Voice Kids" taking the top spot.
The second edition of "The Voice" in the Philippines, which debuted last May 24 with weekend episodes, garnered an average nationwide rating of 34.1%.
The list is a mix of ABS-CBN's weekend and primetime offerings, with "Dyesebel" (30.6%), "Ikaw Lamang" (30.5%), "Maalaala Mo Kaya" (28.6%), and "Wansapanataym" (26.3%) ranking among the top 5 shows, in that order.
The much-talked-about "The Legal Wife" got an average audience share of 26% in May to place sixth, followed closely by "TV Patrol" at seventh with 25.6%. "Rated K" ranked eighth (22.3%), "Mirabella" placed ninth (20%), while "Bet On Your Baby" and "Home Sweetie Home" tied for 10th (19.5%).
The strong ratings of ABS-CBN's primetime programs bolstered its overall lead in the block (6 p.m. to 12 midnight), which draws more advertisements as it is when most Filipinos watch TV.
ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida got an average audience share of 51%, while its counterparts in GMA-7 and TV5 only got 30% and 9%, respectively.
In terms of total day viewership across the country, ABS-CBN led its competitors with an average of 44% for the month, compared to GMA-7's 33% and TV5's 11%.
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
