MANILA, Philippines – Celebrity couple Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago did not appear before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office during the first preliminary investigation of the cases filed by journalist Mon Tulfo against them last Wednesday.
Their lawyers, however, were there to represent them.
According to lawyer Cristina Ramirez, the couple need not appear because it was just the first hearing.
“Unang hearing ngayon, hindi naman required na mag-attend sila pero kapag nag-submit na sila ng counter affidavit, pupunta siya or mag-a-appear sila,” she said.
Asked how is the couple doing after the much-publicized altercation, Ramirez said, "Siyempre nag-aalala pa rin sa kanilang seguridad. Ngayon nagbago na ang buhay nila dahil lagi na lang may pangamba doon sa mga threats na ginawa ng Tulfo brothers.”
Aside from physical injury and grave coercion charges, Tulfo also filed a grave oral defamation case against Barretto and Santiago.
Meanwhile, Tulfo said he is glad that the cases he filed against the two are finally moving.
“Natutuwa lang ako, nakikinig lang ako. Okay na ako, at least sa palagay ko magkakaroon din ako ng hustisya,” he told “The Buzz.”
Both parties are set to meet again on June 11.
