MANILA, Philippines – Actor John Prats gave his thoughts on the pain of a celebrity breakup, fresh off the announcement of his split with beauty queen-turned-actress Bianca Manalo.
While he did not directly refer to his breakup with Manalo, Prats hinted that some couples end their relationship after realizing that they are not meant for each other.
He added that celebrities like him are always under the public eye, which may greatly affect the relationship.
“Siyempre stages ‘yan. You fall in love, then along the way, makikilala mo ang partner mo and mare-realize mo kung either magwo-work ‘yan or marami pa kayong mga misunderstandings, or hindi pala kayo para sa isa’t isa,” Prats said after the story conference of “Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto,” where he is part of the cast.
“Masyado lang siguro sa aming nama-magnify [lahat]. Although public figures kami and we owe it to our fans, sa mga tao, minsan gusto naming maging private about it. Kasi sa normal na tao kapag nag-break, wala naman. Pero sa amin, people talk about it and siguro mahirap kasi nasa industriya ka.
“At na-realize ko rin naman kapag nasa isang industriya kayo, maraming nakikialam. Kumbaga, lahat ng mata ay nasa inyo.”
Although they are celebrities who lead public lives, Prats said he and his colleagues are still hoping to find their respective partners in life.
“Lahat naman siguro ng artista, like me, I’m still hoping na mahanap kung kanino ang para sa akin at ‘yung para sa kanila. ‘Yun talaga ang dream naming kasi pangarap naming na magkaroon ng pamilya,” he said.
In a recent interview on ABS-CBN late-night newscast “Bandila,” Manalo said it was Prats who initiated the breakup.
She denied reports that Sexbomb dancer Sunshine Garcia, Prats’ co-host in “Banana Split,” caused the separation.
In a separate interview, Garcia appealed to the public to stop dragging her name into the controversy.
